Should Big Pharma Profit from COVID Vaccine?

Should there be or should there have been a cap on how much pharmaceutical companies, like Pfizer, could profit from COVID vaccines, especially considering the incredible amount of public funding and volunteering that went into its creation?

Reports vary due to lack of transparency, but the production cost of Pfizer’s vaccine has been estimated to be between $1.18-$6 per dose.  Yet, countries like the UK paid between $23-$29 per dose.

According to The Guardian article linked above: “the NHS has paid a mark-up of at least £2bn – six times the cost of the pay rise the government agreed to give nurses last year.”  Nurses – those we once called “heroes” and showered with praise, standing ovations, and pizza during the worst of the pandemic – are now drowning, stressed, and in desperate need of help, yet they’ve seemingly been forgotten.

But nope, Albert Bourla and his buddies need more taxpayer money in their pockets.  Wouldn’t it make sense that taxpayers had some level of say in how COVID money was spent, since they are the ones that have funded most of it?

Many of these topics involving money can be found in my book – The Pit: Transcend Money, Save the World.
